An Introduction to Gateway - GATEWAY - The MU* Community

An Introduction to Gateway

Established in June of 1998 by Daystrom, Ellyssa, and Siobhan, Online Gaming Resource was born out of an afternoon gabbing session. Wanting to create a space on the net where players and staffers of MU*s could meet on common, neutral ground to share their thoughts, ideas, and knowledge, these three came up with the name and set out to fulfill their goal. Embassies and the Housing Area were the main attractions at the time, although spaces for gaming, classes and discussions had also been built.

Over time, however, the concept and resources began to expand as more people heard of the little MUX resource centre.

Since then, the MUX became a MUSH once it switched servers, and we've lost two of the three founders - Daystrom and Ellyssa - to real-life constraints and to other endeavours. The OGR team has grown, however, to include nails (code wizard), Scaramouche (site co-wizard and gaming wizard), Wizicles (site co-wizard), Moth (events wizard), and Moe (code wizard).

OGR is much larger than when its doors first opened, and its face both on the MUSH and on the web has changed and grown many times; however, the basic original mandate remains pretty much intact:

Everyone is welcome on GATEWAY, providing that respect for each other is never lost.

In December, 2007 Online Gaming Resource was handed over to a new Head Wiz and staff after Siobhan announced her retirement. The game was re-named December 19, 2007 to GATEWAY - The MU* Community.
